Why is there a Special Election?

A former state senator resigned leaving a vacancy in the Minnesota Senate for District 6. 

Who is Running?

Trusted conservative, Keri Heintzeman is running as a Republican in this Special Election!

When is the Special Election?

This Special Election has an early voting period from April 23rd through April 26th and again on April 28th. Election day is April 29th.

Absentee voting starts April 23rd - Request an absentee ballot


Voters in mail ballot precincts will have a ballot mailed to them.


Due to the short timeline, we recommend dropping off your ballot at your county's in-person location below during one of the below timeframes:


  1. Wednesday-April 23rd voting is open from 8:00a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  2. Thursday-April 24th voting is open from 8:00a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  3. Friday-April 25th voting is open from 8:00a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  4. Saturday-April 26th voting is open from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. 
  5. Monday-April 28th voting is open from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
